Dr. Jeffrey LaMondia, Associate Professor Department of Civil Engineering, Auburn University Jeff LaMondia is a national expert in travel demand, active travel safety and travel choice/behavior analyses. His expertise is in the development and application of discrete choice models as well as advanced travel survey methods. Dr. LaMondia's research focuses on two major areas: equitable planning for vulnerable road users (VRU), with an emphasis on promoting safe cycling, and modeling long distance travel behavior, with a focus on activity participation, mode choices, and data collection. He often develops advanced technologies for his research, including creating his own smartphone application for tracking cyclist routes, coding simulation and network prioritization tools in geographic information systems (GIS), and distributing the first web-based longitudinal survey of overnight travel (LSOT). Dr. LaMondia has received a number of awards for his research and teaching (including the National Academies' Transportation Research Board Fred Burggraf Best Paper Award, the Auburn University College of Engineering Faculty Research Award, and the Walker Teaching Award) as well as been invited to speak at a variety of national and international conferences (including the International Association of Travel Behavior Researchers, International Conference on Travel Survey Methods and the Annual Transportation Research Board Meeting). |
